Father & Son Competition

On Sunday last 29th July the annual Father & Son competition took place and this year it was an 18 hole Greensomes competition. The winners with a quiet unbelievable score of 57 was Paudge and Trevor Connolly and they won by 6.5 shots from the pairing of Eugene and Rory O’Doherty with 63.5.

Thursday Open Singles

The winners of last weeks open Thursday was Declan McBride on 42pts, second on 41pts was Cieran Lavery, 3rd James Greenan 41pts and the Gross went to Sean Moyna 33pts.

The popular Open Thursday Singles continues this week and a time sheet is in operation.

Captain’s Prize

The Captain’s Prize competition on 3rd, 4th and 5th Aug is now the focus of attention at Rossmore Golf Club. This weekend a big field will turnout and on Sunday evening at the end of a 45 Holes we will declare a deserving winner. There are still places on the time sheet now posted in the clubhouse. Captain Francis Beggan has declared that he will set a good test and he wishes all competiitors the best of luck over the weekend.

The presentation of the Captain’s Prize will take place on Sunday night at the clubhouse and will be followed by Music and entertainment. This is one of the few nights of the year when all members are asked to make a special effort to attend and help make this an enjoyable occasion.

Eagle Eye has drawn up his short list of likely winners which is printed in this edition. The winner is likely to come from a middle range handicap golfer and names that stand out are, Adrian and Pardaig Trappe, Kevin Friel, Willie Smyth but the favourite is the consistent Brendan Casey.

Ulster Cup Team News

The Ulster Cup team travelled to Lisburn for the first leg Q/Final match and returned home having lost 5 – 2. They now face an uphill task in the home leg if they are to progress to the Semi-Finals.
